What your server needs to run the platform
Modest by design. The reference site https://eazymytrip.com runs on shared Node.js hosting, and the same build runs on a VPS or any Docker-capable host.
Minimum and recommended
| Item | Minimum | Recommended for production |
|---|---|---|
| Node.js | 20 | 20 LTS or 22 LTS |
| Database | SQLite (file) | MySQL with its own user and daily backups |
| Memory | Enough for a Next.js build | A plan or VPS with headroom for build plus runtime |
| Disk | Room for the app, uploads and backups | SSD storage |
| SSL | Required for payments | Free Let's Encrypt or host-provided certificate |
| Outbound HTTPS | Required | Unrestricted access to supplier and gateway APIs |
If your host cannot run a build, build locally and upload the output. The docs cover both routes.
Hosting options that work
Shared Node.js hosting
Node web app panels such as Hostinger Web Apps or cPanel Node. This is how the reference site runs.
VPS
Any Linux VPS with PM2 or systemd behind nginx, giving you full control and room to grow.
Containers
Docker-capable hosts. Mount a persistent volume for uploads and, if you use it, the SQLite file.
Accounts and services to prepare
- A domain name with DNS you control
- An SMTP mailbox for booking confirmations and password resets
- Supplier API keys for the verticals you sell live (flights, hotels)
- At least one payment gateway merchant account, or a UPI VPA in India
- A scheduler able to call a URL for alerts (most panels have cron)
- Apple and Google developer accounts if you will publish the mobile app
Frequently asked questions
Can I start on SQLite?
Yes, for local testing and small installs. Move to MySQL for production traffic and easier backups.
Do I need a CDN?
No. One helps with images if your customers are spread across regions, but the app does not depend on one.
Ready to install?
The documentation walks through environment variables, database setup, build and first sign-in.
